Conceptual Ideas for Spaces

Mind Spaces

Mind Spaces focus on cognitive development and might comprise learning about the city's history, ecology, or culture within an outdoor storytelling circle, experimental classroom, nature observation station, weather station, interactive exhibition, or wildlife habitat.

Body Spaces

Body Spaces encompass active recreation and physical well-being, which might occur within a playing field or creative play space. Essential to promoting physical well-being is a variety of pedestrian spaces that allow children to safely traverse the city by bicycle or on foot.

Spirit Spaces

Spirit Spaces promote creativity, expand awareness of the environment through the five senses, and heighten visual identity within the neighborhood and city. These spaces might include an outdoor art and architecture studio; observation tower, overlook, or water sculpture; historic landmark; culture garden or pea patch; amphitheater; museum; or fantasy space (for instance a giant bug, saxophone, or 1957 cherry red Chevy body).
