What's a Web Skeleton?
When you are building a web site you have
to start somewhere. Why not start from the inside out? A web skeleton
is a kind of rough draft web site that you can "flesh out" over
time. The first step is to build a web page template. Having done so,
you can then bring the linkages in your storyboard to life. Knowing how
many pages you need you can simply start by saving your template with
the appropriate names. If I want my site to have five pages, for instance,
I might go ahead and name my template page, Concept.html, Siteplan.html,
Vignette1.html, Vignette2.html, Vignette3.html. At this point you can
work on the linkages between pages. The Concept.html page might link to
Siteplan.html, which links to Vignette1.html, Vignette2.html, and Vignette3.
You can establish all of your links before you begin to insert images
into the different pages. Once you have linked your pages, you can begin
to make each unique.
