This website contains research completed by Landscape Architecture
students at the University of Washington in the LARC 433 Sustainable
Landscape Construction course between Winter term 2001 and Spring
term 2006. The site contains basic information on the design concerns,
applicability criteria, and construction and cost issues of existing
and emerging green technologies. We have also added case studies
of local construction projects that highlight methods and challenges
of sustainable site construction. Our intent has been to develop
an easily accessible information base about green technologies
that students and professionals can use to advance the ecological
performance of constructed landscapes, and share inside lessons
and inspirations from recent Pacific Northwest built projects.
We see this as an ongoing effort that subsequent classes will
continue to build upon, and hope that the page may become a forum
for sharing innovative green technology information and know-how.
We hope that you find it enlightening and useful. Enjoy!
