Course Reader: A collection of essays, book chapters and articles have been selected and compiled into a course reader. This is available at Professional Copiers on “The Ave” (4200 University Way). No formal textbook is required for this class.

Recommended Materials: To help you to explore your experiences in, and reflections on, place, I recommend that you purchase a blank sketchbook. These are excellent ways of capturing not only your thoughts and reactions to the places you encounter, but also the features and qualities of places that catch your attention or inspire you in some way. Don’t just write - draw. Drawing is especially helpful for capturing your experience of place as well as its features and qualitites – so try to foster that ability, whatever your major!
