modular forms:

Design interventions incorporating a range of scales and forms can be transferred to other areas of the city

If re-designs of urban infrastructure happen gradually, implementing a transformation of the function of the city can be accomplished in a cost-effective manner as maintenance is required or individual parcels or streets are redeveloped and rebuilt. Over time individual projects can "add up" to create significant cumulative benefits at the landscape scale.

By incorporating form and ideas that were 'modular' (transferable to projects in other areas of the city), our design exploration hope to provide cost-effective solutions with still challenging urban residents, landowners and workers to see the city in new ways. For example, these variations of cisterns:

small scale: planter boxes
medium scale: part of water tower

large scale: re-used shipping containers
