  Preview vs. Artwork View

Normally Illustrator displays artwork in the preview mode, which displays the artwork as a finished product. With large files that have a lot of rendering however, it is often better to view the work in Artwork view. Choosing Artwork displays only the outlines, or "wireframes", of an image. Using this option will normally save you time as the machine will run faster because the artwork does not have to be completely redrawn every time a change is made
