Puget Sound Future Scenarios
The Puget Sound Future Scenarios describe six alternative futures for this region over the next fifty years. Each scenario explores a different plausible trajectory for the Puget Sound region illuminating previously unanticipated risks and opportunities for planning in this region.
Future conditions depend on the interaction of inherently uncertain driving forces. The scenario development process provides an approach for understanding the spectrum of trajectories created by the interactions of critical driving forces.

In Phase I of this project we gathered perceptions, from a diverse set of experts, on the major driving forces influencing this region’s future. We are currently identifying additional expertise to synthesize the final descriptions of the six scenarios. The final scenarios will be evaluated through in integrated framework of spatially explicit models in the following phase of this project.
